In Athens, the first issue of the newspaper ” I foni tis Alvanias ” (“Voice of Albania”, 1879-1880), a weekly political, social and cultural newspaper, was published in Greek and partially in Albanian. It continued until number 40 (1880). It was directed by Anastas Kullurioti. It was one of the first organs of the Albanian press of the National Renaissance. It fought for the protection of the rights of the Albanian people, for national awakening and the strengthening of national consciousness, for autonomy until complete liberation and for the territorial integrity of Albania. It also dealt with issues of the Albanian language, school and Albanian culture. (In the photo: Front page of the newspaper “I foni tis Alvanias“.)
