The first issue of the newspaper “Bashkim’ i Kombit” (“National unity”) (1909-1910), a weekly political, social, cultural, literary, economic newspaper in Albanian and Turkish, was published in Manastir. 40 numbers were directed by Fehim Zavalani and 2 numbers by Salih Gjuka. He propagated the unity of the Albanian people in the fight for freedom, the independence and territorial integrity of Albania, the cultural and educational development of Albanians in their native language, etc. It was closed by order of the Young Turk government.
