A silent anti-communist demonstration was organized in Tirana. This demonstration took place in the “Skënderbej” square in Tirana. This is the first protest in the capital against the communist dictatorship, the first sign that even Albania could not remain unaffected by the events in Eastern Europe. Since the event was known some time ago, the State Security arrested several people. In a report of the General Investigation dated 14.2.1990, it was said that, on 26.1.1990, the State Security arrested 15 people from Tirana “for agitation and propaganda against the state”.
