Ndue Shyti, the virtuoso instrumentalist of cafeteria, whistle, and sharia, innovator and creator of folk formations with traditional instruments, and People’s Artist, passed away. He was born in the village of Gojan in the province of Mirdita (Puka district), in 1934. Ndue Shyti enriched the musical repertoire of cifetlia, created by Gjin Shkoza, creating a more complicated using technique, rich in musical figurations elaborated on the principles of free variations, bringing new emotions to its sound. Ndue Shyti is also a whistle instrumentalist and creator of a specific repertoire for that instrument. Together with the construction master Frano Pali, they managed to build the instrumental formation of the Puka district, harmonizing musical instruments that used to play only solo repertoire and that could not be disciplined. His experience in the last decades spread to all the northern districts of Albania. He has participated in a series of tours of the State Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances (Tirana) and the ensembles “Puka” and “Dajti” in different countries of the world. (In the photo: Ndue Shyti)
