Abaz Thaçi, a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and hero of Kosovo, fell at the place called Rrasa e Koshares during one of the biggest battles on the front of Koshare. He was born in the village of Vojnik in the municipality of Skenderaj. He studied at the Military Academy in Zagreb and graduated as a logistics officer. He served in the Yugoslav army for four years. After the start of the war in Croatia, in 1990, he deserted the army and emigrated to Germany. In 1998 he returned to Kosovo. He was appointed to the “Skënderbeu” unit of the Kosovo Military Guard. In April 1999, he was placed in Padesh, on the Kosovo-Albania border line. He was then appointed commander of one of the fighting areas in Koshare, a task he carried out until his death. On April 26, 1999, Abaz Thaçi, with his two soldiers, captured alive the courier of the Serbian commander, who was handed over to NATO forces.
