The emigrants in the United States of America formed the “Besa-Besën” patriotic society. The society was formed in Boston with chairman Fan Stefan Noli, with branches in the cities of the USA, where there were compatriots. This society worked for the unification of Albanians in the fight for freedom and independence. Through its organ, the newspaper “Dielli” (“The Sun”) the society condemned the anti-Albanian policy of the Young Turks, supported the uprising of 1909-1912, defended national interests in the international arena and played the main role in the formation of the “Vatra” federation in 1912.
