Spiro Konda

Albanian historian and philologist Spiro Konda passed away. The first Albanian scientist who defended the thesis of the descent of Albanians from the pelasgians. He was born in Dardhë (Korça), in 1862. Since his youth, he studied the Pelasgians. He graduated from the University of Athens in classical philology. He devoted his whole life to the study of the Pelasgians, from where he published his work “Albanians and the Pelasgian Problem”, which became a well-known work. Spiro Konda had extensive encyclopedic knowledge, especially in linguistics and history. He mastered several languages, such as new and old Greek, the Sanskrit language, which was the language of the intellectuals of india, French, German and several Balkan languages.
