Agim Vinca was born in Veleshtë, a poet, critic, literary historian, and publicist, Struga. He completed his higher education in the Albanian language and literature department at the University of Prishtina, where he worked as a professor of contemporary Albanian literature. He has published poetry collections such as “Feniksi” (Phoenix) (1972), “Buzëdrinas” (1981), “Arna dhe ëndrra” (Arna and dreams) (1987), “Psalmet e rrënjës” (The Psalm Roots) (2007); books on literary studies like “Struktura e zhvillimit të poezisë së sotme shqipe 1945–1980” (The development structure of current albanian poetry) (1985) and “Alternativa letrare shqiptare” (Literal Albanian Alternative) (1995), “Panteoni i ideve letrare” (The Pantheon of Literary ideas) (2003), as well as collections of essays and historical writings: “Populli i ndaluar” (The forbidden population) (1992) and “Shqiptarët mes mitit dhe realitetit” (Albanian in between myth and reality) (1997), etc. Agim Vinca’s poetry, described by an inherent lyricism, draws heavily from the homeland’s soil and blends deep observations and poetic ideas with the musicality of verse. His most significant contribution to the field of literary history is through studies on the development and rejuvenation of Albanian poetry in the second half of the 20th century. In his essays and journalistic writings, Agim Vinca has addressed significant issues in Albanians’ social, political, and cultural life in Kosovo and their national liberation.
