Kristo Pano

Kristo Pano, infectious disease doctor, professor, was born in Tirana. He graduated from the Medical Polytechnic in his hometown. He attended higher studies and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tirana (1969). He served as a military doctor in Pogradec (1969–1977). Since 1977, lecturer of the subject “Infectious Diseases” at the Faculty of Medicine, where he also held leadership positions as head of the Department of Infectious Diseases (1986–1993, 1996–2004) and dean (1991–1992, 2003–2007); head of the communicable diseases service (1993–2003). He was the author of the monograph “Parimet e mjekimit të sëmundjeve ngjitëse(“The principles of curing infectious diseases”)(1982), “Hepatitet virale (“Viral Hepatitis”) (1985), of the texts “Udhëzues i sëmundjeve ngjitëse (“Guidelines on infectious diseases”) (1989), “Mjekimi i sëmundjeve ngjitëse (“Curing infectious diseases”) (1990, for postgraduates), “Sëmundjet infektive (“Infectious diseases”) (1994, 1995), as well as the brochure “Sida” (“Aids”) (2004, for students). He has published several articles in the medical press. He passed away in 2007. In 2010, the President of the Republic of Albania awarded him the “Grand Master” order posthumously.
