Agron Llaka, comedian, was born in Memaliaj. He graduated from the “Sali Nivica” high school in his hometown in 1981. From 1978 to 1987, he worked in the Memaliaj mine. After showcasing his talents in the amateur theater movement, he earned the right to study at the Academy of Arts, Faculty of Performing Arts, which he completed in 1991. Llaka worked as a director at the House of Culture in Tepelena (1991–1993), in the professional stage of Gjirokastra (1993–1996), and after 1996, he became a freelance artist. He became widely known for his impersonations of the country’s most famous political figures, including the president, prime minister, speaker of parliament, and opposition leader. He also excelled in portraying comic characters, from peasants to officials, young or old, where he harmonized individualizing physicality, expressive gestures, imitation, and unique speech patterns, often presented in a grotesque form with great taste.
