Besa Imami, theater actress, Merited Artist, passed away. She was born in Gjakovë in 1928. In 1946 she joined the troupe of the People’s Theater, where she completed the 2-year qualification course for actors. Initially, she played lyrical and romantic characters (Donika Kastrioti in the film “Skënderbeu” (“Skanderbeg”), 1953), later she became more suitable to play characters mainly of a dramatic nature. During her career, she performed more than 80 roles, including: Genevra in “Deep are the roots” (James Gow and Duso, 1949); Ganna Likhta in “Conspiracy of the doomed” (Nikollaj Virta, 1950), Oxanna in “Sinking of the squad” (Korneičuk, 1959); Ermira from “Mbi gërmadha“ (“On the ruins”) (Fadil Paçrami, 1964), Gonerilla from “King Lear” (Shakespeare, 1964), Lokja from “Cuca e maleve” (“The girl of the mountains”) (Loni Papa, 1967), Laja from “Lulet e shegës” (“Pomegranate Flowers”) (Kolë Jakova, 1974) etc. He passed away in 2014.
