Koço Devole, comedian, director, librettist, cartoonist, passed away in Tirana. He was born in Kuçovo, on November 28, 1945. He graduated from the Artistic High School “Jordan Misja” and after that he became active as an actor, director and leader of the amateur movement near the Textile Factory, Tirana. From 1966 he was employed as an actor in Ushtari variety show (“estrada”) being one of its founders. For several years he worked in the magazine “Hosteni“, then in the Albanian Television in the preparation of spectacles and comedy shows. After the 90s of the 20th century, he worked as a director and actor in the Tirana variety show (“estrada”) or engaged in various theater, television and film projects. Koço Devole stands out for his expressive facial expressions, especially his eyes. It makes a somewhat grotesque but organic and natural mood. As a librettist and director, his short humorous pieces, as well as comedies or film comedies, stand out for dealing with a sharp social and political theme, accompanied by a harsh criticism of low and ugly phenomena. He has written a lot of short humorous material for variety shows, such as sketches, dialogues, monologues, etc. He has become very popular for filming his comedies as TV movies (as well as for his starring roles in them).
