The “Battles of Jezerc” were fought by the forces of the Kosovo Liberation Army against Serbian forces, developed as Serbian propaganda sought to convince both domestic and international opinion of its destruction. In the Battles of Jezerc, territorial linkage between the operational units of Nerodime with the units of Drenica and Pashtrik was achieved. The Ferizaj units took control of the village of Jezerc in the night of July 17-18. The battles were fierce and continued until the end of August. For the occupation of Jezerc, the Serbian army engaged around 15,000 soldiers, armored vehicles, and air force. The operation was organized in a circular form and included artillery shelling of the village, positions of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and attacks on its fighters. In defense of Jezerc, 300 soldiers from the units of Kaçanik, Ferizaj, and Shtime fought. On September 28, the command issued an order to withdraw. Small military units were formed to break the encirclement, with the aim of saving the population and preserving military structures.
