In Kllezën, Ulcinj, Monsignor Rrok Mirdita was born. He was the archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Tirana-Durrës and served as the President of the Episcopal Conference of Albania from 1996 to 2000.
The shooter, Merit Award Sports Master Elisabeta Karabolli (Nishica), represented Albania in Germany and was crowned European champion in air pistol shooting.
Based on Order No. 348, dated July 28, 2003, of the Minister of Culture, September 29 of each year has been declared the "National Day of Cultural Heritage."
In Athens, the first issue of the newspaper "I foni tis Alvanias" ("The Voice of Albania", 1879–1880) was published. It was a weekly political, social, and cultural newspaper, printed in Greek and partially in Albanian.
